Battleground Spirits didn't start in a boardroom. It started with a thought I'd carried for years: that the people who sacrifice the most for this country — their time, their bodies, sometimes their minds — don't get what they've earned when they come home. Not in pay. Not in how they're treated.

I'd watched other brands attach themselves to that cause without ever making it real. A percentage here, a portion there — numbers nobody outside the company could actually verify. I wanted to build something different: a spirits company where giving back wasn't a marketing line, it was the whole point.

That idea finally became real over drinks with a few friends one evening. One of them knew someone connected to a distillery. A phone call turned into a meeting, and a meeting turned into a company.

What It Took To Get Here

Getting here wasn't easy, and we're not going to pretend it was. We built and rebuilt this company more than once — changing distilleries, fighting to hold onto what we'd built, hand-labeling our very first bottles ourselves because there was no one else to do it.

We remember exactly what it felt like the first time a finished, labeled bottle of our own spirit rolled out the door in a distributor's truck. That moment — after everything it took to get there — is the reason "small batch, hand-crafted" isn't just something we put on a label. It's genuinely how this company was built, one bottle, one relationship, one hard decision at a time.

Today, Battleground Spirits is distilled and bottled by Sharptop Distilling, a small, family-run operation in Jasper, Georgia — the kind of place where the people doing the work actually care about getting it right.

We don't just say we give back. We show it.

We build custom ammo crates for charity events and fundraisers — real Army surplus crates that once held live ammunition, now laser-branded with a charity's logo alongside ours and loaded with our spirits. At one fundraiser dinner for Nine Line Apparel in Brunswick, Georgia — raising money to build tiny homes for veterans — two of our crates sparked a bidding war that raised over $3,000 for the cause in a matter of minutes.

Who's Behind It

STILL A TWO-PERSON OPERATION, ON PURPOSE

Every piece of this brand — the logo, the labels, the artwork, the social media, the brochures — was built by hand, by me, drawing on more than 40 years in marketing. Nothing here came from an agency.

It's still just my fiancée and me running the day-to-day. When we bring Battleground Spirits into a new store, we do the first tasting ourselves. In under three years, we've put close to 100,000 miles on the truck driving across Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina to make that happen.

That truck gets noticed. We've had people pull out their phones and look us up at a stoplight. We've had strangers follow us into a McDonald's parking lot in a state we don't even sell in, just to say thank you for what we do. We've handed a bottle to a veteran in a Chili's parking lot because he asked what our logo meant, and that was reason enough.

We have hundreds of stories like that. This company is built on them.
